The City of Bunker Hill Village residents are proud of their quiet, wooded environment. The incorporated suburban community is located west of Piney Point Village and south of Hedwig Village. Focused on preserving the character of the “villages”, only single family residences are permitted.

Early inhabitants of the area were German farmers and local residents who had settled there to establish sawmills to cut timber. In the early 1950s as Houston was growing rapidly, residents became concerned about the possibility of annexation and it’s affect on their ability to maintain the integrity and charm of their community.They banned together and incorporated in December 1954 with a mayor-council form of city government. Citizens enjoy law enforcement and fire protection from the Memorial Villages Police and the Village Fire Department.
	Residents today are attracted to Bunker Hill Village for its peaceful country appeal as well
	as the access to quality education from a number of highly rated Spring Branch public schools. There are also several private academies located within or just outside the boundaries. The minimum size lot in Bunker Hill is a “village half acre” or 20,000 sq. ft., with many larger lots of an acre or more. Strict building codes are enforced to help the area maintain is enviable tree canopy.
